“HAUNTED HOUSE” IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE
Police kept watch in a “haunted house” at Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, occupied by a widow and her two children, after being told of strange noises and ghostly voices. They searched the house from top to bottom without finding anything unusual. , «v|g®Hg Then a spiritual medium took charge and this is what happened: 'feeerie raps and bangs were heard; vibrations were felt; pictures and bed clothes were displaced. The medium received a message: “Something will happen just before midnight.” A voice asked that a ring should be taken from a box in a back bedroom. The widow’s daughter answered the voice and when she slipped the ring on her finger the tense atmosphere suddenly lifted. “It was the queerest thing I have ever come across,” said a man who was there. Said the widow: “I am certain the matter has been settled for ever.” But the girl, was still wearing the ring.
