RESTRICTIONS LIFTED The restrictions hitherto imposed, on the despatch of gift parcels tq Great Britain has been abolished with the exception that parcels must continue to be bona fide unsolicited gifts and be marked as such. Commencing forthwith, gift parcels for Britain may be sent up to the maximum weight of 221 b. There is now no 71b. limitation on the weight of food which may be included in any one parcel, no restriction on the quantity of any one foodstuffs in a parcel, and no proviso that parcels for one addressee are limited to one monthly. Making the announcement the Postmaster-General expressed particular pleasure in being able to give this welcome news. Many New Zealand people had been anxious to make a greater contribution of foods to their relatives and friends in Britain.. He said that tbe rates for gift parcels to England are: Up to 31b., 2s; up to 71b., 3s 4d; up to 111 b., 4s 6d; up to 221 b., 7s. The restriction on sending parcels to European countries has also been lifted. In these cases the gross weight of food parcels must not exceed 111 b.
