WEDDING BELLS
BROWN—SULLIVAN
A wedding of considerable interest to local residents took place at Knox Church, Whakatane, on September 1, when Theo, elder son of Mr and Mrs L. H. Brown,,of King Street, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Isabel, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Sullivan, McAlister Street. Both parties were very popular members of the younger set, and all friends, young, and not so young, turned out to wish them well. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very charming in a cream lace trained gown covered with a tulle veil. She carried a bouquet of cream orchids. Her sister Cecily maided her in a picture frock of mist blue organdy. Her bouquet and coronet were of pink carnations and stock.
Mr Colin Treadwell, of' Wellington, very efficiently carried out his duties as best man.
The Red Cross V.A.' Detachment, of which the bride is a member, formed a guard of honour as the couple left the church. The reception was held in the Caledonian Hall. Mrs Sullivan, in a marina green ensemble, received her guests assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs L. H. Brown, who wore a navy suit with matching hat, and carried a bouquet of pink cyclamen.
After the reception, the guests adjourned to McAlister Street to view the many presents, and a very happy party farewelled the newlyweds who left by motor for the South Island. The bride travelled in a biege suit with a royal blue jumper and bonnet.
