SACRED CONCERT
PRESBYTERIAN PROGRAMME A very enjoyable sacred concert was given at Knox Church, Whakatane, last Saturday evening by a party of visiting artists from the Rotorua Musical Society. The ! range and versatility of the recently dedicated Memorial Organ were demonstrated to the full by the. organist, Miss R. Leech, L.R.S.M., while the vocal items were all pf high quality. The result was a first class evening’s entertainment which-left the large audience with the desire that the members of the party might be heard in Whakatane again. At the conclusion of the programme they were warmly thanked for their visit and subsequently entertained at supper. The programme was as follows:
Organ: “Overture to Christmas Cantata” (J. S. Bach); “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring” (J. S. Bach). Solos: Mrs T. H. Carr, “Like as the Heart Desireth,” “Magdalen at, Michael’s Gate.” Organ: “Suite Gothique.” Solos: Mr Max King, “Bless This House” (Brake), “Lord God of Abraham” (Mendelssohn). Organ: “Question,” “Answer” ()W olstenholme). Duets: Mrs T. H. Carr and Mr S. Kendall, “The Voyagers,” “Arise, O Sun.” Organ: “Evensong” (Easthope Martin). Solos: Mrs J. F. Thomas, “How Lovely are Thy Dwellings,” “Lead, Kindly Light” (Evans). Organ: “Ave Maria” (Schubert). 'Solos: Mr S. Kendall, “If Thou Shouldst Mark”, “Thanks Be to God”, (Dickson).
, Organ: “Largo” (Handel), “Sing Unto God.”
