BRITISH PARADE IN HOLLYWOOD

FILMING OF BIBLE STORIES In Hollywood now is the Rev. Brian Hession, vicar of Holy Trinity, Aylesbury. Mr Hession is carrying a brief case full of scenarios based on Bible stories which he hopes the Cathedral Film Company will turn into films for Bible Films, Ltd., and Dawn Trust, Ltd., both British non-profit-making concerns. Top priority among them he gives to a full-length script called “The Hand that Drove the Nails.” It is the story of a Roman soldier who was forced to carry out the crucifixion orders. To ensure that the soldier’s reactions and mental anguish are correctly portrayed, Mr Hession consulted Dr. Fletcher Ray, the London psychiatrist. Now aged 36, Mr Hession was at one time a Regular Army padre. He became interested in film-making 15 years ago, and helped to turn the old silent film, “The Manger to the Cross,” into a “talkie.” He has produced a number of short religious films, written by himself, and with incidental h3 ? mn music “registered” in his own church. The parson- film writer has gone to Hollywood because he has been unable to interest any British com.- • pany in producing his films at a reasonably early date.
