Rod and Gun Colours
At the last meeting of the Committee of the Whakatane Rod and Gun Club, the colours to be used by the club were decided upon as Royal Blue and Gold. Mr S. Kerr .was elected Club Captain.
Scout Social Activities
With a view to stimulating the social life of the district Scout troops a special meeting of ladies from the Thornton and Edgecumbe areas took place last Mnnday evening when after an informal talk it was decided to recommend to the' Whakatane Local Association that all scouting committees in the district make some effort during the year to promote one social or field day function of its own choosing during the year at two monthly intervals, and that to each of these gatherings a general invitation be extended to all surrounding troops. The question of catering for public and Scout gatherings was also discussed at length. Those present included Mesdames Arbuckle, D. Scott, Jackson and Schneller (Thornton), Conway and Gow (Edgecumbe) together with the District and County Commissioners.
