PLUNKET SOCIETY

WHAKATANE BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING HELD The twentieth annual meeting .of the Whakatane Branch of the Plunket Society was held recently, the majority of members being present. Mrs Speirs, Rangitaiki .sub-branch Secretary was also in attendance. The Mayoress, Mrs B. S. Barry, presided.

The President’s report and the report for .the year ended March 31, 1946, were received, and both indicated that an increasing: amount of useful and necessary work was being done throughout the district.

The balance* sheet showed the branch to be in a sound financial position. The election of officers was proceeded with as under:— President: Mrs Cairns (re-elected). Vice-presidents: Mrs Kendal, Mrs" Shapley, Mrs Zinsli. Secretary: Mrs Roach. Treasurer: Mrs C. A. Suckling. Auditor: Mr L. R. Spring. Solicitor: Mr L. Buddie.

Advisory Board: Dr. Appleby, Dr. Dawson, Dr. Cole, Mr W. Sullivan, M.P., Mr L. Buddie. Committee: Mesdanfes Dainton, Knights, Spring, Timbs Senr., King-sley-Smith, Patterson, Morpeth, Jessop, Debreceny, O’Rourke, Horne and Caisley. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the auditor, Mr L. R. Spring, the treasurer, Mr C. A. Suckling and the secretary, Mrs -C. G. Caisley.
