At the recent Auckland Competitions Shirley Whyte, of Whakatane, in the Elocution Section reading at sight was very Highly Commended with 81 marks, and in the Recitation for girls 10 and under 12 was very Highly Commended with 80 marks.

At the annual meeting of the Whakatane and Rangitaiki A. and P. Society last Friday evening Messrs. Len Sisam, B. Sladden, R. Ruddick, Walter Thompson and W. C. Roberts were elected life members in recognition of their willing and consistent services over a long period of years and also to mark the year of the Victory Show,
