DAIRY SEASON SETBACK RANGITAIKI CHAIRMAN’S FIGURES - .... • «S . -\. . In the course of his remarks at last week’s meeting of the Rangitaiki Dairy Company’s suppliers, the Chairman of Directors, Mr W. A. McCracken, said; — The fall in dairy production in the Dominion for the first 11 months of the season to June 30, in comparison with the output for the same period of the previous season, has been estimated by the Dairy Division at 21,000 tons of butter and 7000 tons of cheese. This means a loss of income to the dairy industry od: approximately £2,300,000. The percentage decrease for the 1 months period on a butterfat basis was 15.5. North Auckland was the worst sufferer with a fall over the
11 months of 25 per cent., while in South Auckland there was a loss of 21 per cent. Bay of Plenty was 18 per cent, down, Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne 17 per cent, and Canterbury 15 per cent. Taranaki suffered least among the districts where production received a setback, butterfat output declining by 4| per cent.; while the Southland district was singularly alone in an increase in output of per cent. The loss on the Rangitaiki Plains was estimated at 10.6 per cent.
