LAST SHOOT

TANEATUA ROD & GUN CLUB SEASON CLOSES The Taneatua Rod and Gun Club held its final • shoot of the 1945/46 season on August 11. There was a large number of competitors and visitors present and some excellent results were recorded, several possibles being scored. Interest was largely centred on the Senior and Junior championships.

There were nine events the programme, the following being the scores in each:—

Event No. 1 (5 birds sweepstake): R. S. Rickett, M. Martin and L. Shepherd made the possible and divided the prize. 30 entries. Event No. 2 ,(5 bird sweep): M. Matchitt, J. Butler, A. W. Jones; J. Tebbutt, W. Howat and K. Tebbutt each made the possible. In the shoot off for the club trophy J. Hassett was first with J. Tebbutt second. Event No. 3 (junior championship of 8 birds): C. Matchitt was the winner with 7 kills while J. Hassett was runner-up with 5 kills. Event No. 4 (senior championship of 8 birds): S. Ker made the possible and was the winner. R. S. Rickett, J. Plamus, S. Luttrell, C. Mitchell, W. Hume, and J.. Butler tied for second place. In the shoot off J. Plamus gained second place with. R. S. Rickett third. Event No. 5 (dual drive 5 birds): W. C. Davies and C. Mitchell tied for first place and divided the prize. Event No. 6 (sweep, 5 birds): J. Butler, C. Mitchell, J. Tebbutt and M. Matchitt made the possible and divided the prize. Event No. 7 (box shoot, 5 birds): S. Ker won with the -possible, W. C. Davies being second with 4 kills." Event No, 8 (sweep, 5 birds for the lady’s prize): R. S. Rickett, W. C. Davies, J. Butler, J. Tebbutt, T. Butler, C. Mitchell, A. Mitchell and W. Hume Ml made the possible, and in the shoot off W. Hume won for Mrs J. Butler’s prize and A. Mitchell' won second prize for Mrs Mitchell. *

Event No. 9 (farewell handicap of 5 birds): R. S. Rickett, W.H. Semmens, J. Tebbutt, M. - Matchitt, C. Mitchell and Ruri made' the possible and divided the prize.
