HILLCREST DEVELOPMENT

NINETY acres of extended Hillcrest Estate which is fast becoming the fashionable residential plateau of Whakatane, will shortly be surveyed with a view to being opened up for building sections. The area lies above Commerce Street and extends to the junction of Valley Hoad. It will be recognised as the same tract of land which has twice been swept by scrub fires during the past three years. The syndicate responsible for the new divisional scheme intends constructing the access roads in the near future and when officially approved will lose no time in putting the sections on the market. If the sites become as popular as those immediately east of it, there is every reason to believe that a new and thriving residential area will be created in the comparatively near future.
