SATURDAY’S MATCHES The following matches will be played under the auspices of the Whakatane Rugby Union on Saturday, August 17:— Seniors Matata (Rangitaiki Senior Champions) v Paroa (Whakatane Senior Champions) for John Pile Memorial Cup. No. 1 ground, 2.45 p.m. United v Taneatua, No. 2 ground, 2.45 p.m. 3rd Grade 3rd Grade Reps, at 1.30 p.m. for Parata Cup. Opotiki (challengers) v Whakatane (holders). Juniors United v Ruatoki at Whakatane. Paroa v Taneatua at Taneatua, 1.30 p.m. Poroporo v Waimana at Waimana. Whakatane Thirds The 3rd Grade team to represent Whakatane against Opotiki on Saturday will be the same as that v/hich won the Parata Cup last week except that J. Wano (Huimai) who was not previously available will take his place as second live-eighths enabling Manuel to go into the forwards to replace Martin who was injured last Saturday.
