WHAKATANE UNION MEETS The ordinary weekly meeting of the Whakatane Rugby Union took place last Wednesday evening in the County Council Chambers. Mr W. S. Henderson presided and club delegates from Waimana, Taneatua, Whakatane, Wairaka, Paroa and Poroporo Clubs. The secretary reported that the finances were sound approximating £l5O. It was agreed to present a trial balance at next meeting. The question of continuing club, competitions was mentioned by thechairman who said that he anticipated at least two more rep. fix-* tures before the season concludedIn his opinion senior - and juniorfixtures with Rangitaiki should arranged in which he hoped to see? some of the players who had not yet had a run included.
The Bracken Cup games were discussed and the question of whether this should be treated as a. round or as a knock-out competi--tion.
A letter from the Rangitaiki Union enquired the definition of the boundaries between the two Unions. These it was stated, had been, vaguely delineated over a period of 20 years but something more de- ; finite was needed. The, chairman stated that from what he gathered the boundaries had been those of the Paroa and. Poroporo Clubs._ These boundaries had been regarded as the lines of demarcation for a long time. Tho’ secretary was instructed to a write: accordingly. * TEAMS FOR SATURDAY UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB The following are the seniors to play Ruatoki at Ruatoki on Saturday. Bus will leave the Rock at 1.40 sharp:—Reid, McGougan, Cave, Kahui, Debreceny, Curry, Brown, Francis, Carey, Shapley, Wilson, Cassidy, Green, Gardiner, Morpeth, J. Moody. The following is the junior team to play Paroa at the Domain at 1.30 p.m: Back, Henderson, G. Goodall, R. Goodal, Buddie, Rutherford, Edmondson, Stewart, Hunt, Ward, Butler, G. Moore, Laloli, Dines, Armstrong, Smeaton, Maxwell, Carling, Taylor, Hudson. 3RD GRADE REPS. The selectors have picked the following representative team to represent Whakatane against Rotorua in the Parata Cup match to be played at the Whakatane Domain at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, August 10: Fullback: Carter (High School). Three-quarters: Seeker (Waimana), Teepa (Ruatoki), Coker (High School). Five-eighths: Manuel (Waimana), Seebeck (High School). Halfback: Goodwin (High School) Front Row: Stewart (Taneatua), ( Tunui • (Huimai), Tumona (Ruatoki). Middle Row: L. Goodall (High School), Stevenson (Waimana), B. Boynton (Waimana), Chadwick (High School). Back Row: Cameron (High School). Emergencies: Reri (Waimana), Martin (Waimana). (Wano, Huimai, was not available). All players are requested to bo on the ground at 2 p.m. sharp to collect gear.
