GOLFERS ENTERTAIN SUCCESSFUL DANCE HELD A crowd of just the right dimensions for enjoyable dancing, comfortably filled the Winter Show Buildings on Thursday evening, when members of the Whakatane fjlub sponsored a successful dance. Patrons attended from - many /different parts of the and with Freddie Burt’S Qabaret Orchestra (and as everTHhg inimitable Freddie behind thd hUke), supplying excellent music, the setting was perfect for a fftll night of entertainment,

The floor was in quite good condition. (With each successive dance it becomes noticeably better, and before long should be back to normal dancing.-'speed). Decorations bore a national touch, lent by the flags, and dfapings of red, white and blue, whilst" greenery at appropriate intervals round the walls,- supplied the finishing colourful touches. Dancing was both old-time and modern, and the orchestra excelled in the music it supplied for both types. All numbers were popular, and the floor filled rapidly at the commencement of each dane. An excellent idea of Bandleader F.B’s, which he has used to good : effect in several dances, and which he employed again, was that of announcing the next dance at the conclusion of the one before. This enabled gentlemen to engage their partners beforehand, and was appreciated by the crowd. The programme was almost non-stop from start to finish, approximately three minutes only elapsing between dances. 7 Supper, which was attended to by the ladies of the Club was tasty. Much of it was home-cooked, and ranged from savouries of all sorts including turkey, to a wide variety of cakes and other sweets. '

A Monte Carlo, which was held was won by Mr D. Pearse and Mrs H. Armstrong. An enjoyable extra foxtrot was supplied by Miss Nola West, Mr Alan Armstrong and Mr Graham West.
