FOOD FOR BRITAIN
RED CROSS CAMPAIGN TOTAL OF £B4 RAISED In response to the appeal instituted by the Red Cross organisation in the Whakatane district for Food for Britain, donations to which have been acknowledged in this paper from time to time, the sum of £B4 12s Id has been raised. Included in this sum was an anonymous donation for £5, which we have now been authorised to credit to Misses Richards and Tegg of the Gift Shop. The sum of £BO 18s was subscribed by straightout donatoins, while the following collection boxes realised the respective sums now acknowledged:— *
As a final effort in the above connection the local Red Cross organisation plans to have a street campaign on Friday, August 9, when a Bring and Buy stall will be held on the Strand. These funds will be devoted to the Food for Britain drive and to the General Purposes Fund.
