LIGHTS TESTED
MOTORISTS ON THE MAT SHOPPING NIGHT SCOOP Hundreds of motoi’ists felt a sudden lump in their throats last Friday evening when they suddenly became part of a slow-moving procession of vehicles along Commerce Street. The bottle-neck was the cluster of Traffic Officers in front of Messrs. Brabant Bros., who were engaged in checking up for defective headlights. We did not see many guilty consciences escaping by way of the Apanui pan-handle streets, but we understand many quick-witted ones were able to execute this- manoeuvre and come out smilingly via Louvain Street. The Editor was not so lucky! The objective was to give a general check-up on all headlights after a lengthy war-spell of comparative indifference. Perhaps the restoration of ‘free’ petrol had something to do with the sudden animous. In any case the action was probably long overdue, and culprits in most cases will be let off with the proverbial warning.
