WEDDING BELLS

GALLAGHER—WARDLAW A very pretty wedding at St. Luke’s Church performed by the Rev. R. G. McDowall, was that of Mavis, only daughter of Mr and Mrs. T.T W. Wardlaw, Seaview Road, Remuera, Auckland, and Norman, son of Mr and Mrs. J. Gallagher, Meadowbank, Auckland.

The bride wore a classical frock of embossed satin with a coronet of roses and bouvadia, which held her beautifully embroidered veil in place. Her shower bouquet was of roses and bouvadia. Her cousin, Phyllis McNamara, and the bridegroom’s sister, Miss Frances Gallagher, were bridemaids in pink marquisette, trimmed with gold sequins. Both wore tiny hats of pink tulle & flowers and carried shower bouquets of pink carnations to match. Two little cousins of the bride, Dawn and Kay Stubbs, acted as flower girls wearing pink frocks offset with heartshaped frills. They held baskets of pink flowers. The best man was the bridegroom’s brother, Mr W. Gallagher, and the was the bride’s brother, Mr Archie Wardlaw, As the bride entered the church with her father, Miss O’Connor, of Remuera, sang “My Prayer.” The reception was held at the Cornwall Park Kiosk, where about 100 guests were received by Mrs Wardlaw, who wore a sapphire blue suit. She carried matching accessories of red gerbera and roses. Mrs. Gallagher wore a wine ensemble and carried a posy bouquet of pansies and roses.

At the reception the beautiful four-decker wedding cake, which was made and iced by Mrs. McNamara, aunt of the bride, took pride of place. Telegrams and several cablegrams were read. The guests were later entertained at the. home of the bride’s parents, who had associated with them the bride’s grandmothei', Mrs J. Wardlaw, of Mt. Albert, Auckland, who wore a black ensemble and carried a posy of violets. The young couple left later on a motor tour of the North Island, the bride wearing a sapphire ensemble with matching accessories.
