WHAKATANE MEN’S CLUB On Saturday the first qualifying round of the Club Championships will be played. There will be no draw and players are asked to avoid delay by going off in threes as they arrive. There will be three qualifying rounds and players will qualify on their best two of the three rounds. Seniors, for the championships, are players with handicaps of 13 and under, intermediates 14 to 20 both inclusive, and juniors over 20. Sixteen qualify in each grade on gross scores and should a junior or intermediate qualify by his scores in a higher grade he may, if he wishes, elect to play in that grade but would not of course be eligible for his own handicap grade as well.

Players are asked to check their cards as irregularities such as date or lack of signature render players liable to disqualification. Some of the first round games in the Fortune and Founders Cups were not played over the weekend and when the round is completed the results will be published. A ladies’ and men’s team visited Opotiki over the weekend and had a most enjoyable day. The final results were in Opotiki’s favour with the ladies teams, the men’s teams finishing all square. Ladies: Opotiki 9 wins, .Whaka r tane 2 wins. 3 games halved. Men: Eleven wins each and four games halved. TE TEKO LADIES’ CLUB The July Medal will be played this week.
