INGLESIDE DANCE
POPULAR OLD-TIME EVENING
A very popular Ingleside dance was run by the Caledonian Society in its hall in King Street last Saturday evening. The programme consisted entirely of old-time and Scottish dances, and the large crowd of patrons, sufficient to fill the hall entirely, enjoyed themselves to the utmost.
The function opened in the usual traditional manner with the piping in of the Chief and the Grand March. Chief Simons then acted as Master of Ceremonies for the evening. The Premier Dance Band supplied music of a high standard. The dancing programme was interspered with a number of items all of which were enjoyable and received the applause they deserved from an appreciative audience. Performers were Miss Lois Bell (.Sword Dance), Miss H. Mitai (Seann Trubhais), Miss Barbara Perenara (Irish Jig) and Russell Hurst (Pipe Solos). Later the three girls, all of whom are pupils of Miss Phyllis Rivett, executed the Highland Fling. At an appropriate time, an interval'was called, while the service of a tasty supper was undertaken. This was very much enjoyed by the dancers, and many appreciative comments were heard.
The dance, which was one of the usual monthly series at present being run, proved popular to the degree that by special request, another evening, with a similar programme will be held in the near future.
