Dear Sir,
Letters to the Editor must be clearly written on one side of the paper only and where a nom-de-plume is used the name of the writer must be included for reference purposes. The Editor reserves the right to abridge, amend or withhold any letter or letters. PUBLIC RESPECT FOR FUNERALS Sir,—Just lately the Returned Services’ Association has participated in the funerals of one Returned Soldier and a Returned Sister, and it has been noticed that the general public has lost some of its respect for the dead, and in many cases just go about ordinary business whilst the cortege is passing. In some cases it has been noticed that cars have just sped past the procession at a terrific rate, and do not give a thought to the mourners following a dear one to the last resting place. Surely the public of Whakatane is,not so disinterested in the last respects due in these cases, that it must ignore the_ feelings of those interested. Yours etc., C. A. HEAD, Secretary.
