SCOUTING

COMMISSIONER’S VISIT FORMATION OF ROVERS Training Commissioner R. Aidrich, continued his Scouting contacts in the Whakatane district by visiting Waiohou Scouts and Guides under S.M. and Captain Judd, last Monday. In the evening an enjoyable gathering of the Land and Sea troops took place in the ■ Methodist Hall that same evening, when the Commissioner addressed the boys and introduced a number of new games. At the conclusion committee members and local Scouters were the guests of District Commissioner Mathews and Mrs Mathews to an enjoyable supper. A message from ‘Nuska’ Dominion Commissioner for Rovering indicates that he will be visiting Whakatane on Saturday, August 3, for the purpose of addressing senior Scouts and others interested in.the question of Rovering. So many enquiries have been made along these lines recently that we are certain of a good response to ‘Nuska’s’ campaign. No one over the age of seventeen is too old for Rovering which is the answer to the demand for something for older boys and young men who desire to follow up clean and character-building occupations.
