SCOUTING
COMMISSIONER'S VISIT TRAINING CAMP HELD Training Commissioner R. Aidrich who is visiting the local Scouting units in the Bay of Plenty at the present time, held a special basic course for Scouters and Senior Patrol leaders at Thornton over the weekend. Twelve attended and a happy and interesting course took place in a cottage, kindly placed at the movement’s disposal by Mr A. H. Adams. A Scouts Own church service took place in the Thornton Hall on Sunday which was attended by a number of residents. Those taking the course were S.Ms. T. Howell (Awakeri), D. Scott (Thornton), G. West and B. Hume (Sea Scouts), A. S. M. Law (Thornton), Scouts P. Carter (Awakeri), W. Quigg, T. Dockray, B. Taylor, E. Dockray and Commissioner C. Kingsley-Smith.
Commissioner Aldrich visits Waiohou today and this evening meets the combined Whakatane Land and Sea Scouts in. the Methodist Hall. He visits Thornton tomorrow evening. •
