RACING NEWS & VIEWS
A Speedy Recovery The Canterbury jumpex% Night Prince, was supposed to have been injured when he fell in his Waikato engagement, and it was reported that it might be many weeks before he could again appear in public. Within a few days, however, he was galloping and jumping as well as ever at Awapuni, and so evidently made a quick recovery. Swift Quarry Among the entrants for the Canterbury Winter Cup is the Te Rapa trained Swift Quarry. He has not been over raced this season, and if he is taken to Riccarton turf patrons there will see a galloper of real merit. Another Veteran Victorious Peach King, winner of the County Hurdles at the Manawatu meeting, will rank as a 12 year old on August Ist. He won his race by over a dozen lengths so evidently is as good as ever. Chances of Mr Rosa The two year old Barwon is to be accompanied by Mr Rosa on his Australian tour. He is to act as a galloping companion to the 3000 guineas colt, but if properly placed it may be on the cards thslt he will win as many races as the handsome 3000 guineas black colt. The latter will require to have a change of name on the other side. The National Double The Otago jumper Arabian Night, winner of last year’s National Hurdles, is this year to attempt to win both the big jumping events at Riccarton. Change of Stables The Ringmaster colt, Gavinmor, has joined J. H. Wallace’s team at Takanini. He has only been lightly raced, but may be kept more busy in the new season.
