SCOUTING
TRAINING COMMISSIONER’S VISIT WEEK IN WHAKATANE In the course of his periodic field tours throughout New Zealand Scout Commissioner Aldrich (Headquarters Training Commissioner) arrived in Whakatane last Wednesday and plans to put - in an intensive week visiting the various troops in this and the Opotiki districts. Circumstances permitting he will run a basic training course over the coming weekend as a refresher for Scouters and Patrol Leaders.
Last evening Commissioner Aidrich attended the Scout concert at Thornton where fie presented Scoutmaster D. Scott with his warrant and thanked the committee and the audience for their support for. the local troop. Today he intends visiting Rotoiti and inspecting the two Whakatane Cub Packs. On Saturday morning Edgecumbe and Otakiri troops will be visited at their parade, while commencing at 2 p.m. the Basic Course will take place at Mr A. H. Adams’ property, Thornton. It is hoped to inspect the Thornton troop and pack over the weekend, whilst on Monday Waiohou will be visited and in the evening a combined parade of Land and Sea Scouts will be held at 7.30 p.m. in the Methodist Hall.
Tuesday will be devoted to Opotiki, when the Waiotahi and Opotiki troops and Packs will be contacted. The Commissioner will leave for the Tauranga end of the district on Wednesday or Thursday.
