LARGEST IN ISLAND
GISBORNE ELECTORATE. GISBORNE 14,441: 8.0. P. 14,080 The new Gisborne electorate is lumerically the largest in the North Island with a voting population of 14,441. A quota of 14,010 was fixed as a basis for the reorganisation of the electoral boundaries and a margin of 500 either way was allowed to meet contingencies. The Gisborne electorate is only 80 short of the allowable maximum. This accounts probably for the apparent anomaly created by the Waerenga-a-hika salient involving 100 electors. No change has been made in the announced boundaries. The Hawke's Bay electorate, which takes in territory formerly in the Gisborne' area, now has a voting public of 14,418. The Bay of Plenty figure is 14,080. The smallest new electorate is that of Tamaki with a total of 13,527.
