A FEATURE COLUMN "MUSIC FOR MILLIONS" Sensational Performances "Saratoga Trunk," the much-dis-cussed Gary Cooper-Ingrid Bergman film is putting up sensational performances in its current overseas release. It is due for early release in New Zealand. Desirable Qualities At a recent poll of what was considered most desirable in a woman, j held by Gainsborough Pictures, the quality Companionship scored an easy victory, whilst Glamour came last. Smashing All Records ' "Leave Her To Heaven," now being shown in America, is smashing all records for popularity throughout the country. In every theatre, it has topped the record of previous outstanding hits. Teamed Again "Papa Went to Congress" an unpublished novel, is to be made into a film with an all-star cast by M.G.M. The only stars selected so far are June Allyson and Margaret O'Brien who very successfully costarred in "Music For Millions" now released. A Top Dramatic Actress Bette Davis, starring in "Old Acquaintance" is maintaining her position as one of the top dramatic actresses in Hollywood, and never fails
to draw record audiences. She is the wife of William Grant Sherry, Lagune Beach Artist, whom she married just before Christmas. Another Catch Title Another of those titles which somehow become attached to screen stars has come in to popular fancy in the States. It is The Huttontot, and belongs to none other than that bunch of bottled T.N.T. Betty Hutton. Other such names are The Look (Lauren Becall), The Voice (Frankie Sinatra), The Legs (Betty Grable) and The Dimples (Pamela Britton). Fanmail simply addressed The ' —' (whatever it might be) always finds the right address. Regent "Music For Millions" (20, 22 and 23 July). Billed as the top picture of the Regent calendar. Has an allstar cast including Margaret O'Brien '('Lost Angel') the seven year*old star; Jose Iturbi ('Thousands Cheer') the pianist-conductor; June Allyson Jimmy Durante, Marsha Hunt and other top liners. Excellent entertainment for young and old alike, possessing all-round appeal for all patrons. Iturbi is featured conducting a symphony orchestra, in some of the world's most inspiring melodies.
