EDGECUMBE RED CROSS
The Edgecumbe Sub-Centre of the Red Cross held a meeting in Bell's Hall on Wednesday, July 3, Mrs Mexted presiding- over a fair attendance. The president gave a report on the last centre meeting, and a circular dealing with "Fats for Britain" was read.
Mrs Mexted reported the dispatch of a box of clothing-of 117 articles to British Red Cross, London. This .ncluded 38 articles of baby clothes nade by members.
It was decided to donate £lO to he Waikato Red Cross towards food or Britain, and £5 to the local CORSO appeal. This money to be ent to Whakatane Centre this month with the annual £l2 levy.
The Junior Red Cross organiser, Miss Hadfield, will be speaking at the Edgecumbe School on Wednesday, July 24. A* social evening will be tendered to her in the Red Cross buildings, Whakatane, on Monday, July 22, and it is hoped that there will be a good attendance of Red Cross members, Girl Guides, Brownies, Boy Scouts and all those interested in Junior Red Cross work.
Thanks are tendered to all those who contributed to the Tinned Food for Britain campaign. Special thanks to Mr Paterson, the Schoolmaster, for co-operation and to the children for their excellent response to the appeal. This effort is much appreciated.
