VALEDICTORY
MESSRS. C. H. JORDAN AND A. N. DA VIES LOAN CO. STAFF FOREGATHER A recent gathering of over fifty members of the staff of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., in the Bay of Plenty took place in Whakatane for the purpose of paying tribute to Mr C. H. Jordan of Tauranga, and Mr A. N. Davies of Opotiki, on the eve of their retirement after approximately 40 years service with the Company. Mr L. H. Brown, the Branch Manager, opened proceedings by welcoming to Whakatane fellow officers from the respective sub-branches, Te Puke, Tauranga, Opotiki and Rotorua. The toast list interspersed with items was then commenced. Immediately after the dinner Mr Brown presented to each of the guests of honour a writing bureau on behalf of all present. The opportunity was also taken during the evening of congratulating Mr J. B. Riddell on his appointment as agent at Tauranga and Mr Brown on behalf of the Whakatane staff presented him with a leather attache case and bowling bag. Following was the toast list:—

Corcoran; "The Guests of Honour," Messrs. L. H. Brown, G. Wood, A. LeF. Waugh, E. Gillam and L. Johnson, Messrs. C. H. Jordan and A. N. Davies; "The Branch Manager," Mr E. Gillam and Mr L. H. Brown; "The Ladies of the Staff," Mr W. J. McKenzie and Mr L. M. Roach.
