GIFT EVENING

MISS A. BURNETT HONOURED

A very happy evening was spent j at the Nukuhou North School in honour of Miss Alma Burnett’s approaching marriage. The school committee had arranged an excellent programme. The Melody Boys Oi’chestra supplied the dance music, extras were played by Miss A. Ruff and Mr Alan Bell. Mr F. Sterling carried out his duties of M.C. very ably. Prizes donated by friends were won by Miss A. Burnett and Mr F. Leathwick, Miss M. E. Graham and partner and Mrs Ivan Savage and partner.

After a very dainty supper, Mr John Cranswick spoke of Miss Burnett’s school days in Nukuhou, and also mentioned her services as a W.A.A.F. for over four and a half years. He then asked the guest of honour to come forward and accept the many useful and beautiful' gifts which had been presented by her friends with the best wishes of all present.

Mr Frank Leathwick (ex R.N.Z.A.F.), on behalf of Miss Burnett, suitably replied thanking everyone for the very happy evening also for the many useful gifts. Dancing continued to a late hour and the singing of Auld Lang Syne brought a very enjoyable evening to a close.
