FOOD FOR BRITAIN
CAMPAIGN FOR FUNDS ____ FINAL WEEK OF APPEAL The campaign for funds to supply additional food to Britain, which has been conducted by the Red Cross, has reached its final week, and an appeal is made to residents to donate as much as possible during the next seven days. Through a misunderstanding some gifts of tinned food have been received, These will, of course, be despatched, but this appear is actually •for money only. Tinned food, although appreciated, has not the vaue of the present scheme, as civilians have to give up food coupons in exchange. Also, very much less food can be purchased for the same amount of money. Every penny of this fund goes to food bought wholesale at a discount and despatched monthly. It is distributed in Britain (not sent to other famine areas) to hospitals, orphanages and poor, aged and sick persons, without surrender of coupons ;and is, therefore, additional to the meagre ration. The following donations are acknowledged:—
