INDOOR BASKETBALL
AUCKLAND TOURNAMENT &
With the opening of the season on July 10, in the Winter Show Buildings, local exponents of Indoor Basketball will have an opportunity of being selected in Bay of Plenty representative teams for a Provincial Tournament in Auckland towards the end of July. Such is the interest in this fast sport, that it has been necessary to book the Auckland Town Hall for the games, in order to house the big number of spectators expected. Local players have shown in the past that they have few peers anywhere in the Province, and it will be surprising if the Bay selectors overlook local talent. Several men’s and ladies’ teams have been entered already for the weekly competitions to be commenced in Whakatane, and there is room for further entries from sporting bodies or other organisations. Individual players will be moulded into teams on the 10th, and intending players are asked to contact the •secretary, Miss C. Zinsli, before that date if possible. Plans are well under way for a good season and the public should witness some fine examples of what is aptly called “the fastest game on foot.”
