Maoris' Food Contribution

Maori growers will make a major contribution to the campaign for increased maize production which is a part of the national food production drive. In order to ensure: sufficient grain for pigs and poultry, a. target of 12,000 acres in maize hes been set for the whole Dominion. Planting is not normally .undertaken until October, but it is hoped that Maori settlers in the Rotora and Bay of Plenty areas,: which have obtained 'high maize yields, in previous years, will grow fully 1500 acres.
