U.S.A. Memorial . The Levin Racing Club has decided to donate the net proceeds of its meeting to the Returned Services Association Memorial Fund.

Night Prince for North The Oamaru jumper, Night Prince left for the north on Monday to compete in cross country events at the Manawatu and Waikato meetings.

Valley Trail Improving The three year old filly, Valley Trail, runner-up to Bedivere at the Franklin meeting, was made a firm favourite on the occasion, but finished two lengths away from the winner. By Dink—Valley Maid she is raced in partnership by Messrs. J. A. Court and T. S. Tooman, and is trained by the latter at Avondale. With second place to her credit both at Ellerslie and Pukekohe she may soon be hailed a winner.

Ran a Good Race Mr E. J. Breman's five year old Yorkish, trained by Fred Smith at Takanini, improved by his Ellerslie effort, ran a solid race at Pukekohe when he was only beaten by a nose by Regal March in the Paerata Handicap. Yorkish will be all the better for the gallop. A Paddock Holiday Mr W. S. Goosman's Town Survey, Kathshara and Bueno are at present spelling on their owner's Morrinsville' property. Town Survey, however, may resume track work shortly in view of the Grand National meeting in August. ■ ■

Training On Master Meruit, who fell at the third .to last obstacle while competing in the Great Northern Steeplechase, is reported to be none the worse for the mishap, and is expected to line up for the Grand National Steeplechase in August, an event he won in fine style last year.

Another Day for Matamata When a few days ago the Wellington Racing Club abandoned its Winter Meeting, it occurred. to the Matamata racing officials that there would be race days tip spare. The club quickly applied for one day. The application was granted, and a meeting is dated for July 20.
