POWER SHUT-DOWN

WARNING TO HOUSEHOLDERS EARLY MORNING PERIOD Commencing tonight, the power throughout the Whakatane Borough will be cut off from 1 a.m. to 3 a,m. Householders are warned that this step has been necessary owing to the continued need to economise as much as possible. We have been in formed by the Borough Engineer (Mr F. W. Lysaght) that the local demand is still well m excess of the allocation, and unless greater care is exercised there is every prospect of a daily shut-down which will cause widespread inconvenience. Every householder can assist and co-operate to avoid this. Ke ■ sidents the onus is on you. Save -electricity!
