WEDDING BELLS

BURLACE—DORAN St. John’s Catholic Church, Taneatua, was the scene of a charming all-white wedding on June sth last, when Eileen, second daughter of Mr and Mrs E. J. Doran of “Davadene” was married to Edgar Joseph, only son of Mr and Mrs J. J. Burlace, of Te Rehunga, Dannevirke. The Rev. Father Curley, of Whakatane, performed the ceremony. The organist was Mrs R. Orr, of Whakatane. The bride who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of marquisette over satin, fashioned with a low neck, with a deep frill across the yoke, edged with dainty lace. The skirt was gathered to the low waisted fitting bodice and ended in a long train. Her beautiful handembroidered veil was held in place with a spray of artificial flowers and she carried a sheath of arum lillies. Three dainty bridesmaids, sisters of the bride Misses Molly, Kathleen and Irma Doran, made a very pretty picture in frocks of white cloque, fashioned on fitting lines with low waists and threequarter length sleeves. They carried slower bouquets of crimson zinnias, autumn berries and leaves. Headsprays of the same flowers and berries held the short red veils in place. Mr Alex Charmley, of Dannevirke, carried out the duties of best man, while Mr Ken Meacham also of Dannevirke, and Mr Mat Doran, brother of the bride, acted as groomsmen. Little Gale Menefy, niece, of the bridegroom, presented the brid§ with a lucky horse shoe as the couple left the church.

The reception was held in the Taneatua Hall which was decorated for the occasion with nikau palms and red and white flowers. The guests were received by Mrs Doran who wore a navy costume with matching accessories, and a shoulder spray of crimson rose buds and fuschia, and by Mrs Burlace who chose a brown costume with accessories to match, with a shoulder spray in autumn tonings of rose buds and marigolds. Mr B. Quill, of Whakatane, made a very capable toastmaster. When leaving on her honeymoon the bride wore a three-piece suit in green checked tweed, with a fawn blouse and accessories to tone in fawn and brown.

Mr and Mrs Burlace intend tg make their future home at Te Rehunga, Dannevirke.
