Related to Flowerburn Hunting Mac, winner of the Remuera Hurdles at Ellerslie, registered a good performance. By Hunting Song from Billikins Hunting Mac, who has furnished into a fine type of jumper, is a half-brother to the brilliant sprinter, Flowerburn. For Australia Mr G. Cobb’s Nizami—Duvach colt, Hiraji, has been purchased by an Australian sportsman. The Nizami stock are more highly favoured in Australia than in this Dominion. If they improve with age, as they are expected to, the Aussie buyers will be on good terms with themselves. Hiraji won £905 in stakes this season. A Gift Horse Including her win in the Great Northern Steeples Our Nation has won £4675 in stakes. Three years ago the mare was a gift to Mrs Loomb by owner-trainer S. McGreal and has certainly made good. The Camp Fire Pedigreei Camp Fire, the sire of Hassel the dam of Our Nation, was imported from Australia in 1903 by Mr E. J. Watt, of Hawke’s Bay, and for a number of years was located in Taranaki. Second on List | W. J. Broughton, the well known rider scored five wins at the Wanganui fixture, and at present is four points behind N. B. Holland for this season’s jockey premiership. A Disappointment The news to the effect that the Wellington Winter Meeting has been cancelled, will be disappointing to many owners and trainers, who would have had their candidates ready to race for the rich prizes allotted. The work of topdressing the course with soil, and backing up the turns is proceeding, but it is feared that in the event of rainy weather being experienced, the track would not be safe to race on.
