RUGBY INTERESTS
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AT TANEATUA A full attendance of delegates was present at the last meeting of the Management Committee of the Whakatane Rugby Union, which was held at Taneatua. Mr W. S. Henderson presided. Congratulations were extended to the Whakatane Representative team which secured the Dunderdale Cup in the match against Rangitaiki at Te Teko on the King’s Birthday, and the President was deputed to arrange a return match with Rangitaiki at Whakatane. In connection with Club Football, a Ruatoki player, P. Hohua, who was penalised recently by way of being stood down for two playing Saturdays for rough play, was again before the Union for illegal play, and was stood down for a further four playing Saturdays, Ten new footballs were distributed to primary schools in the Union’s district. A donation of £3 3s was made to the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Delegates expressed their appreciation of the assistance rendered by members of the Brigade, and it was decided that efforts should be. made to arrange transport for a member to attend the Ruatoki field.
