Rider for Verner Stable K. L. Holman, a Sydney rider, now on a visit to the Dominion, has joined up with T. F. Verner’s stable at Takanini. i An Acquisition Mr J. Paterson of Huntly, has effected the purchase in England of the stallion Hiawatha, a son of Hyperion and Queen o’ Roses. Year by year the Dominion is becoming richer in the possession of the best British thoroughbred strains. Hiawatha will be the third son of Hyperion imported to New Zealand. The Photo-Chart The recording of race finishes by camera under the photo-chart system will be given a trial at the Wellington meeting in July. It takes one minute to develop'and print the photo before it is handed to the judge, who will reecive it before all the horses have returned to the birdcage. Promising The Doxbridge—Valdere filly, Forth Bridge, trained by D. J. Arnott, Te Aroha, is showing promise. At the Waikato meeting she registered a third and a fourth over seven furlongs. On a more firm track she is sure to run a good race. Highly Successful Mr A. E. Bowler, of Auckland, part owner of Barwon, had a successful run at the Perth carnival where he won the W.A. Easter Cup of £ISOO, the Metropolitan and St. Leger, with Air Flare and Kalamunda. Both horses are now to go to Sydney where they will join up with Barwon and Mr Rosa. The Yaldhurst Estate

Mr A. Holmes, of Christchurch, well known in trotting circles, has purchased the Yaldhurst Estate, famed by reason of being the property on which many of the late Mr G. G. Stead’s noted thoroughbreds were given their early education. A High Grade Importation The 3000 guineas imported colt by Colombo, owned by Mr J. G. Alexander, of Wanganui, has been broken in and is in light work. He is a stylish black, built on true racehorse lines. Being bred to English time this three year old will rank as a four year old in this Dominion, so his r&cing will be confined to handicap events.
