YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB TANEATUA VERSUS THORNTON On Friday evening the Taneatua Y.F.C. debating team travelled to Thornton to debate against the local club team. The subject debated was “That the cinema has had an undesirable effect .on the. moral welfare of the. community.” Thornton supported 1 the affirmative and Taneatua the negative. The local team comprised M. Law (leader), R. Craddock and R. Cleland. The negative team were R. Oakman (leader), G. Hill and J.. O’Brien. Mr A. H. Adams acted as chairman and the judges were Mr I. B. Hubbard and .Mr N. Ducker. Thornton were declared the winners by a very narrow margin. The total points awarded were: Thornton 151 against Taneatua 149. Th evening concluded with supper.
