AGREEMENT REACHED
FARMERS’ UNION AND FEDERATION BAY OF PLENTY DISCUSSION An announcement that the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, Auckland Province (Inc.) had reached agreement with Federated Farmers of New Zealand (IncA and that a body Federated Farmers (Auckland Province) was to be formed under the Incorporated Societies Act, was discussed at the Bay of Plenty provincial conference of Federated Farmers in Tauranga last Monday. The discussion was held in committee, but later a statement was handed to the press. The following is the statement: — “During the discussion on the press report, a delegate asked what the position of the Bay of Plenty would be in the light of the announcement. “The president (Mr A. L. Friis) replied that it would be practically impossible at this stage to pass an opinion on the question as the only facts known were those contained in a statement from the press. Until information was gained from the headquarters at Wellington, with full knowledge of all points of the agreement, one could only assume certain probabilities. “These were:— “There would be two federations in operation in the Auckland Province, the Federated Farmers of
