Mr J. N. Harvey, Judge of the Waiariki Native Land. Court, is presiding at the sitting of the Whakatane Native Land Court now in session.

At present spending a short holiday with friends in the district, are the Rev and Mrs A. D. Horwell. The Rev. Horwell, who has" recently returned from overseas, will be well remembered by district residents as the Rangitaiki Presbyterian Minister some seven years ago.

At yesterday’s annual meeting of the Whakatane County Council, Mr J. L. Burnett was' unanimously reelected chairman at an honorarium of £IOO. The Works Committee was re-elected as under: The Chairman, Crs Luxton, Leslie, Wardlaw, McGougan and Butler and the Finance Committee, the Chairman, Crs McCracken, H. C, McCready, Burt, Hunter and Cawte.
