A GENEROUS RESPONSE
C.0.R.5.0. APPEAL REALISES £63
Whakatane lived up to its reputation as a generous giver on Friday last when the appeal launched by the recently constituted C.0.R.5.0. branch realised the sum of £63. Lady workers representing the Women’s Institute, W.D.F.U., Red Cross and St. John Ambulance carried on an energetic campaign throughout the day and achieved an excellent response. . Copper trails, carried on by voluntary groups of school children on the Strand and at Kopeopeo, also met With remarkable success, and some £l4, was raised in this manner. The money will be despatched without delay to the correct authority for immediate relief overseas. For the benefit of those who have made enquiries we publish - the full text of the title C.0.R.5.0., which means Council of Organisation for Relief Services Overseas. It is often described as the civilian or voluntary'section of U.N.R.R.A.
