BOWLING CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFICERS A full attendance of enthusiasts gathered at the County Council Chambers last Wednesday evening for the Annual General Meeting of the Whakatane Bowling Club. General business discussed included a number of matters connected with the club, and particularly the greens, and the President's (Mr W. S. Henderson) report gave an excellent review of the year’s progress. A subject which aroused considerable discussion was the matter of the raising of the subscription rates by 15/- per annum. A decision was reached that such increase should come into force, making the subscription for members £4 10/-, and first year players £2 15/-. A full discussion also took place on the findings of Mr T. Stringer, the Auckland Green Expert, who paid a recent visit to Whakatane, and it was generally agreed that the club had benefitted- by much useful advice.. The presenation of prizes were carried out by the President, who extended his hearty congratulations to the recipients of the awards. These were: Champion Singles, Mr C. W. Good; Champion Pairs, Messrs S. McKenzie and W. S. Henderson (s); Champion Junior Singles, Mr R. Morpeth; Handicap Pairs, Messrs G. Oswald and. P. Smoljan (s). Election of Officers The election of officers took place as under:— Patron: Mr W. Sullivan, M.P. President: Mr P. Dixon. Vice-president: Mr J. W. Wilson. Secretary: Mr E. C. Coates. Treasurer: Mr C. Pearson. Green Superintendent: Mr R. Murphy. Committee: Messrs L. Berg, D. Butler, C. R. West, H. L. Drube, G.. Oswald. Handicapper and Selector: Mr L. Littlejohn. Auditor: Mr H. Warren. Coach: Mr C. Loane. Delegates to Bay of Plenty Centre: President, Vice-president and Secretary.
