BOARD'S ANNUAL MEETING
MORE SUITABLE AREA NEEDED
The Chairman of the Edgecurnbe Domain Board, Mr O. V. Marx, in presenting his report at the Board’s annual meeting expressed his regret at the lack of progress made during the past year. “This,”, he said, “is in no way attributable to lack of endeavour on the part of Board members whom I have to thank for their continued clo:;e interest and co-operation.” Detailing efforts to acquire a more suitable area for development, the report revealed much correspondence and negotiations. The placed on further subdivision in the township ended a period of intensive work by the Board, wheni the acquisition of the new area was almost completed.
The report further stated the present Domain to be a “healthy cow paddock” and the need of minor repair and repainting of the Pavilion to be undertaken in the near future. The financial statement presented by the secretary, Mr J. Mulins, disclosed £349 in the Bank and to ml assets at £SOB.
Mr O'. V. Marx was again elected chairman unopposed, Mr W. J. R. Thompson voicing appreciation of his services and untiring interest. Following discussion on future policy the Board decided that two liason officers be appointed to act in conjunction with any committee or body publicly appointed to decide the future of Edgecumbe. Messrs. O. V. Marx and W. J. R. Thompson were subsequently appointed.
