Sunday’s Golf Tournament

Golfers in this district are reminded of the mixed picnic tournament which is to be played on the Whakatane Golf Club links on Sunday, May 19. Could Apply to Opotiki! Mr W. Sullivan M.P. raised a point which could not be ignored at the meeting at Edgecumbe yesterday. He contended that the same arguments advanced for the removal of Edgecumbe from its present site could be used against any low-lying town which was subject to flooding. They could, for instance be applied to Opotiki, but he knew that no Departmental officer would think *of suggesting that Opotiki should be moved from its present site and built up elsewhere.
