BLOOD DONARS
VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY
NEEDED
CALL TO YOUNGER PEOPLE A plea for more volunteers as blood donars to the local hospital was put forward by the chairman of the Hospital Board last Thursday. Mr Mullins said that when the last appeal was made, only a few members of the St. John Ambulance Association came forward. There was a definite responsibility on the members of the general public in this respect and he felt that the average person owed a daty if he or she were within the eligible classes. What was needed was the creation ef a reserve of plasma, sufficient to meet all requirements. Persons eligible were only those under the age of 35 years, who were normally healthy. All they had to do was to contact the hospital and submit to a slight examination and test. The actual operation was painless and gave only the minimum discomfort to the donor. dfe
