COUNTY HOSPITAL LEVY
BOARD RECEIVES CHEQUE FOR £3644 ‘Enclosed please find my Council’s cheque for £3644 2s 5d being first payment towards the Hospital levy for current year. This payment is made under pro - test.’ The above constitutes portion of the County Council’s letter to the Whakatane Hospital Board which was received at its May meeting last Thursday. The letter added that the County Council was through its Association negotiating with the Government to have hospital taxation and rating recommendations of the Select Committee on Local Government, implemented. (The payment alluded to constitutes the whole of the County’s capital levy and a quarterly instalment of the maintenance levy. Ed)
