Rabbits For Britain During 1945, New Zealand exported 2,902,743 frozen rabbits to Britain. This was an increase of 652,743 on the number exported in 1944. Lack of shipping space severely restricted the number sent in 1942 and 1943. New Zealand rabbits are popular as a food with the people of Britain, and now form an important addition to the amount of meat we can make available to them. One rabbit is sufficient to provide an average-sized family with one meat meal.
