WEDDING BELLS
WHITE—HAMERTON A wedding of particular interest to residents of the Bay of Plenty was solemnised at St. Mathew’s Church, Taneatua, on Easter Monday when Helen Nanette, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs T. E. Hamerton, became the wife of Richard Thom'as, second son of Mr and Mrs E. N. White, Waimana. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride, and the huge bowls of chrysanthemums and dahlias at the altar rails and the large flower bedecked bell overhead were a pretty setting for the bridal group. The bride’s frock was of organdie cut on classical lines with a heart neckline. The long tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. These flowers with cream roses and chrysanthemums also formed the very dainty bouquet. In attendance in charming blue organdie frocks, with bouquets of blue and cyclamen and unusal coronets of real flowers in the same colourings were Misses Launa Print, Alice White' (sister of the bridegroom) and Joan Hamerton (sister of the bride). The bride was given away by her father, and the Rev. N. Drake performed the ceremony. Mr Brian White carried out the duties of best man and Messrs. David White and Ellis White were groomsmen. At the reception held in the Taneatua Hall, Mrs Hamerton received her guests, attired in a floral sheer frock worn under a fur coat with a small felt hat and eye veil. She was assisted, by Mrs White whose navy gown and small navy hat were worn with a fur coat. The bride’s grandmother, Mrs Hamerton, Snr., wore a smart navy ensemble and matching hat and carried a bouquet of roses. The ushers were Messrs. Dick Hamerton and John White. A short toast list was honoured under the able mastership of Mr A. K. Prince. Reference was made to the fact that both bride and groom were born in the country and their parents were old and valued residents.
The guests afterwards assembled at the home of Mr and Mrs Hamerton to view the presents and see Mr and Mrs White Jnr. off on their honeymoon trip, Which will take in. most of the North Island. Mrs White travelled in a petunia frock topped with a fitting mist blue coat, tiny blue felt hat and petunia veil. Mr and Mrs White intend to make their home in Gordonton.
