RED CROSS SOCIETY
SUB-BRANCH AT OTA KIRI A meeting of the ladies of Otakiri took place on April H) for the purpose of discussing whether a branch of the Red Cross Society should be formed in that district. Visitors from Whakatane were welcomed and Mrs J. Winstone, the district secretary, spoke, ably outlining the work of the Red Cross and giving instances of things that had been done.
Tea was served at this stage, and after discussion it was decided that a sub-centre be formed at Otakiri with Mrs Jessup as president and Miss Jean Murray as secretary. The executive hopes to see a good attendance of members at the May meeting at which there will be clothes etc. to' make up for relief work.
